What is the Asia Club?

The Asia Club is a student-run university club at the University of St Gallen that focuses on promoting intercultural dialogue and exploring Asia's diverse cultures, business and politics. Our motto, "Discover, Experience, and Connect with Asia," captures our mission to provide students with opportunities to learn, engage, and network through business, cultural, and social events.

Does the Asia Club partner with other clubs organisations?

Yes, the Asia Club actively seeks partnerships with other student organisations, universities, and businesses to enhance our events and expand our network. Collaborations allow us to provide richer experiences and access to a broader range of resources and opportunities for our members.

What languages are spoken in the Asia Club?

While Switzerland may have four national languages, English is all you need to participate in our events. Interestingly, over 83 languages are spoken by our members, but English remains our shared conversational language.

What kind of events does the Asia Club organise?

We organise a wide range of events including business talks, cultural workshops, social gatherings and networking sessions. Our flagship event, the Asia Days Conference, brings together experts to discuss current issues in business, culture and politics in Asia. Whether you're looking for professional development or cultural experiences, we have something for you!

How can I stay informed about upcoming events and activities?

The best way to keep up to date with our events and activities is to follow us on Instagram (@asiaclub_unisg) and check this website, asiaclub.ch, regularly. We also send out newsletters to keep our members up to date with upcoming events, so make sure you sign up when you join!

Can I attend events without being a member?

Yes, many of our events are open to everyone, including non-members. However, certain events are exclusive to members, and members have priority access to events with limited capacity. In addition, event fees are regularly reduced for members, giving you more opportunities to attend at a lower cost. We encourage you to become a member to take full advantage of all that the Asia Club has to offer!

We host up to 10 individual events throughout the semester, with a mix of business, cultural, and social activities.

How does the Asia Club support career prospects?

The Asia Club provides networking opportunities, internship listings and connections with industry professionals to help members enhance their career prospects in Asia-related fields. In addition, our events often feature guest speakers from a variety of industries who provide valuable insights and potential job leads.

Do I have to be Asian to be part of the Asia Club?

No, The Asia Club is a diverse and inclusive community that welcomes everyone, regardless of background. Our mission is to promote intercultural dialogue between Switzerland and Asia and to provide a community for Asian students at the University of St Gallen. Whether you're Asian or non-Asian, you're welcome to join us and participate in our events, learn from different perspectives and engage in meaningful conversations. The more diverse our community, the richer the experience for all!

Do I need prior knowledge of Asian cultures to join?

No prior knowledge of Asian cultures is required to join the Asia Club. Our club is a place to learn, share and grow together, so whether you're new to Asian cultures or already familiar with them, you'll find a place in our club.

How do I become a member of the Asia Club?

To become a member of the Asia Club, simply visit the membership page on this website and complete the membership form. You can also join by attending one of our events and signing up in person.

What are the benefits of becoming a member?

A

As a member of the Asia Club, you will have access to exclusive events, priority registration for popular activities and unique networking opportunities with students, professionals and organisations involved in Asia. Members also receive invitations to special events and can benefit from internship opportunities and closer ties within our diverse community.

Is membership open to students from all programs or universities?

A

Yes, membership is open to students of all programmes at the University of St. Gallen, whether you're studying economics, law, business administration, international affairs or computer science. However, full membership is only available to students who are fully enrolled at the HSG or to visiting students on an exchange programme, who can join via an exchange membership.

What happens after I finish my studies at HSG?

A

After you graduate from the University of St. Gallen, your journey with the Asia Club doesn’t have to end. As an alumnus, you have the opportunity to join the HSG Alumni Asia Club, which offers continued access to a global network of professionals with an interest in Asia. This alumni club allows you to stay connected with like-minded individuals, attend exclusive events, and keep engaging with Asian business, culture, and politics beyond your time at university.
